TS Galaxy president Tim Sukazi has revealed that Kaizer Chiefs made a R4 million offer for Seluleko Mahlambi, but the proposal was rejected because it fell well below the club’s valuation of the young forward.
Mahlambi, 22, emerged as one of Galaxy’s most promising players after being promoted from the club’s DStv Diski Challenge team in July 2025. His performances after breaking into the senior side last season attracted interest from several of South Africa’s leading clubs.
Kaizer Chiefs were among the teams monitoring the player, while Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates were also linked with a move during the off-season. None of those potential transfers materialised.
Sukazi has now confirmed that Chiefs made a formal approach, with sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr reportedly offering about R4 million for Mahlambi.
However, the Galaxy president said he believed the amount did not properly reflect the player’s ability or future potential, and that the club had set a significantly higher valuation.
“Mahlambi, big talent, there has never been an offer in monetary terms outside Kaizer Chiefs,” Sukazi said on SNAWA.
“Kaizer Junior tabled a R4 million offer, and I thought, really, it was not good enough in my view for a player like that.
“Seluleko, at least, he should be on those ten and above million, at least, you know he is young, it has to…”
Sukazi said negotiations eventually reached an impasse, with neither side prepared to alter its position. Chiefs did not raise their offer, while Galaxy refused to lower their asking price.
“Kaizer was not prepared to budge, four million was the number, he stood his ground and we stood our ground,” he added.
The Galaxy president also dismissed the suggestion that the club might have considered including players as part of a deal for Mahlambi.
Sukazi explained that trading players was not necessary for the club’s transfer strategy and said Galaxy had not used swap arrangements in its other transactions.
“Not that we needed any players, by the way. All the deals that we do, we do not involve swap deals if you can check,” he said.
Mahlambi therefore remained with TS Galaxy after the discussions with Chiefs failed to produce an agreement.
