Abdel Aziz Bouh to referee Egypt’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Malawi

Mauritanian referee Abdel Aziz Bouh has been appointed to oversee Egypt’s Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifying match against Malawi on Friday, 13 November at Cairo International Stadium.

Bouh will be assisted by Ibrahim Salem and Youssef Mohamed, while Babacar Sarr has been named as the fourth official.

The match is the third round of qualifying and will take place during the next international break, which runs from 9 November to 17 November.

Bouh, 34, will referee Egypt for the first time in his career. However, he has previously officiated seven matches involving Egyptian clubs.

Egyptian sides have never lost a match under his direction. He has refereed three Al Ahly games, with the club recording one win and two draws.

He has also taken charge of two Pyramids matches, both of which ended in victory for the Egyptian club, as well as one Modern Sport fixture that finished level.

Egypt will travel to Malawi for the return fixture on Tuesday, 17 November, in the fourth round of the qualifying campaign.

The Pharaohs began their campaign with a goalless draw against Angola in Cairo before beating South Sudan 5-0 away from home in the second round.

After two rounds, Egypt lead the group with four points, level with Angola. Malawi are third on three points, while South Sudan are bottom without a point.

The standings also list Angola in third place with one point from one match, followed by South Sudan without a point.

Egypt’s most recent match was a friendly defeat by South Africa at Cairo International Stadium at the end of the October international break.

That result was the first defeat suffered by Egypt under manager Hossam Hassan at Cairo International Stadium. It was also his sixth loss as Egypt manager, following defeats by Croatia, Uzbekistan, Senegal, Brazil, Argentina and South Africa.

Hassan has drawn 12 matches and won 20 since taking charge of the national team.
