Al Ahly begin recovery work ahead of Kitara CAF Confederation Cup tie

Al Ahly have started preparations for their CAF Confederation Cup campaign with a recovery-focused training session ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Kitara in Uganda.

The Egyptian side trained on Monday as they continued their preparations for the first leg of their last-32 tie, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 17 October.

Players completed a series of recovery exercises designed to reduce fatigue following their recent victory over Zamalek. The two teams met in the sixth round of the league at Cairo International Stadium, where Al Ahly secured a 2-0 win.

Mohamed Hany and Monsef Bekrar scored the goals for Al Ahly.

The club’s media centre said the coaching staff and players had now moved on from the Zamalek match and were concentrating on the start of their continental campaign.

Head coach Hussein Ammouta included light ball-work drills in Monday’s programme as part of the preparations for the upcoming fixture. The session was intended to help the squad recover while maintaining readiness for the trip to Uganda.

Al Ahly were given a bye through the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup. Their opponents, Kitara, reached the last 32 after beating Somalia’s Muqdisho City 4-1 on aggregate.

Al Ahly will travel to Uganda for the first meeting, with the tie marking the beginning of their involvement in this season’s competition.
