Egypt star Omar Marmoush fined in England over uninsured £250,000 McLaren vehicle
Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush has been fined by a British court after being found guilty of failing to insure his £250,000 McLaren sports car.
According to reports, the 27-year-old was prosecuted at Teesside Magistrates’ Court following a case brought by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) over the alleged failure to insure the luxury vehicle.
The proceedings followed Marmoush’s failure to pay a fixed penalty issued on June 17, prompting the authorities to take the matter to court.
Under the court’s ruling, the Egypt international was ordered to pay a £220 fine, £100 in court costs and an additional £88 victim surcharge, bringing the total financial penalty to £408.
Court documents indicate that the DVLA attempted to contact the forward at his former apartment in Manchester, but the notices reportedly went unanswered before the matter was referred to court.
The development comes as Marmoush continues his club career in England. The forward is contracted to Manchester City but, according to the report, joined Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan at the end of August 2026.
Manchester City secured his services in January 2025, and the Egyptian has since remained a player of considerable market value, with Transfermarkt valuing him at €50 million.
The legal issue adds an unexpected off-field development to the forward’s career, although the financial penalty is separate from his footballing commitments.
Neither the fine nor the court proceedings, as described in the report, indicate any sporting sanction against the Egyptian international.
