Ferland Mendy and Eder Militao have returned to Real Madrid’s first-team training as the club prepares to face Roma in the second round of the Champions League league phase on Wednesday.
The France left-back and Brazil defender took part in Monday’s session after recovering from their respective injuries.
Mendy had been training alone in recent days after undergoing surgery that kept him out for several months. Reports at the time suggested the 29-year-old could have been sidelined for five months if an operation was required.
The French defender has endured a succession of injuries this year and has missed most of Real Madrid’s matches this season. He has made only nine appearances since the start of the current campaign, with recurring fitness problems ruling him out of the rest.
Militao, meanwhile, has been unavailable since April after suffering a thigh muscle tear. The injury also prevented him from representing Brazil at the 2026 World Cup.
His return to competitive action is expected to be managed gradually. The defender has suffered two anterior cruciate ligament ruptures in recent years, adding to his extended spells on the sidelines.
Both players’ participation in team training gives Real Madrid an additional boost before Wednesday’s meeting with Roma, although Militao’s involvement in matches is likely to be eased back over time.
