Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala has resumed individual training as he continues his recovery from a muscle injury.
The Germany international has returned to the training pitch for the first time since being forced to withdraw from his country’s squad during September’s international break.
Musiala suffered a minor muscle tear before Germany’s 1-1 draw with the Netherlands in Amsterdam. He is now working separately from the rest of the Bayern squad as he gradually rebuilds his fitness.
The 23-year-old completed exercises focused on changing direction and also worked with the ball during a session alongside fitness coach Simon Martinello.
“Musiala worked with fitness coach Simon Martinello prior to team training, doing drills focused on changes of direction and enjoying some time with the ball at his feet,” Bayern said.
The club have not set a date for his return to competitive action and are expected to take a cautious approach to his recovery.
Musiala is likely to miss Bayern’s Bundesliga fixture against Augsburg on Saturday, as well as Tuesday’s Champions League meeting with Viking.
However, his return to ball work is regarded as another encouraging stage in his rehabilitation, as Bayern wait for the attacking midfielder to regain full fitness.
