Al Masry’s new Port Said stadium set for partial opening as FIFA requirements completed
Al Masry vice-president Al-Husseini Abu Qamar says the club’s new stadium in Port Said is close to a partial opening, with the first-team squad expected to hold its initial training session there in the coming days.
Abu Qamar made the announcement during a visit to the stadium, where he was accompanied by the project managers. He said the final stage of planting the pitch was nearing completion before the remaining facilities are prepared.
That work includes installing the goals and marking the playing surface. The stadium will be ready to host the first team’s opening training sessions once all finishing work in the dressing rooms has been completed.
Abu Qamar said the rest of the internal and external finishing work would continue at the same time, following the arrival of the VIP seats for the main stand.
He also said the development of the stadium was being monitored by Port Said governor Ibrahim Abu Limon and Al Masry president Kamel Abu Ali.
“Following the observations made by the board of directors, approval was given to create two recovery rooms next to the dressing rooms, in order to meet the requirements of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA),” Abu Qamar said.
“The coming period will also see the installation of the fans’ entry gates, which were imported from abroad in line with the requirements of the Tazkarti ticketing system.”
The partial opening will allow Al Masry to begin using the stadium for training, although the remaining work on the venue will continue after the VIP seating has been installed.
Al Masry face Ceramica Cleopatra on Wednesday in the opening round of the Egypt Capital Cup.
The club are the holders of the Egypt Capital Cup, which represents their first trophy in 28 years.
