Aqtay Abdullah has been left out of Al Ahly’s squad for their Egypt Capital Cup group match against Assiut Petroleum after being suspended by the Competitions Committee of the Clubs Association.
The young forward’s absence is not for technical reasons, according to FilGoal.com. He is serving a one-match suspension in the competition after collecting three yellow cards in the previous edition, with his latest booking coming against Al Masry in the final.
Aqtay will be available for Al Ahly’s second match of the tournament, against Arab Contractors, which is scheduled to take place in December.
Al Ahly head coach Houcine Ammouta announced the squad for the game against Assiut Petroleum, which comes only a few days before the league meeting with Zamalek.
The forward joined Al Ahly from ENPPI and has made three appearances in the Egyptian Premier League this season, all as a substitute. He has yet to score or provide an assist.
Al Ahly begin their 2026-27 Egypt Capital Cup campaign against Assiut Petroleum in the group stage. They are in Group C alongside Eastern Company, ENPPI, El Gouna, Assiut Petroleum and Arab Contractors.
The first round of Egypt Capital Cup fixtures will be played after the return of the league clubs from the international break.
Following the match against Assiut Petroleum, Al Ahly will turn their attention to the league derby against Zamalek in the sixth round of the Egyptian Premier League. That fixture is scheduled for 11 October.
