Croatia 1-0 Spain: Perisic header gives hosts Nations League half-time lead

Croatia lead Spain 1-0 at half-time in their fourth UEFA Nations League Group Three match, with Ivan Perisic scoring the opening goal.

Spain began the round at the top of the group with nine points, while Croatia were third on three points.

The teams resumed play for the second half with Croatia in front.

Perisic put Croatia ahead in the 17th minute with a header after following up Igor Matanovic’s effort, which had been parried by Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon.

Matanovic then missed the chance to double Croatia’s advantage five minutes later after Simon made an error while passing in front of his goal.

Spain had already been tested in the 12th minute, when Simon saved a powerful header from a Croatia forward to keep his side’s goal intact at that stage.

The other match in Group Three on the same matchday sees England face Czech Republic.
