Najeeb Yakubu switches Indonesian clubs to join Persijap

Nigerien-Ghanaian winger Najeeb Yakubu has joined Persijap from Garudayaksa FC, completing a move between two Indonesian Super League clubs.

The 26-year-old right winger joins Persijap after spending less than two months with Garudayaksa, having moved to the club from Persijap on 21 July 2026. He returns to Persijap after making one appearance in the 2026-27 Super League season.

Yakubu has played eight minutes in the competition so far, with his sole appearance coming as a substitute. He has not scored or provided an assist, and did not start either of his side’s recorded league matches.

Born in Accra on 1 May 2000, Yakubu has represented both Niger and Ghana by nationality. He is listed as a right winger and is right-footed.

His return to Persijap adds another chapter to a career that has included spells in Ukraine, Finland and Kosovo. Yakubu joined Ukrainian side Vorskla Poltava from Niger Tornadoes in 2018, before moving to Finnish club Ilves on loan in August 2022.

He returned to Vorskla at the end of that loan spell in June 2023, then left the club for Kosovo’s FC Prishtina in September 2024. Yakubu subsequently joined Persijap in July 2025 before departing for Garudayaksa this summer.

The winger has won domestic cup competitions in Finland and Kosovo. He was part of the Ilves side that won the Finnish Cup in 2023 and later lifted the Kosovar Cup with FC Prishtina in 2025.

Yakubu’s market value is listed at €350,000, while his highest recorded valuation was €900,000. His return gives Persijap an attacking player with experience across several European leagues as well as the Indonesian Super League.

Persijap have now re-established Yakubu as part of their squad, with the player registered at the club on 17 September 2026.
