Lebone Seema’s Orlando Pirates move linked to former Alexandra coach

Lebone Seema’s move to Orlando Pirates has been linked to Mxolisi Mngomezulu, who helped coach the defender at amateur level in Alexandra before later joining the club’s technical team.

Seema joined Pirates from TS Galaxy ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, but the link between the player and Mngomezulu stretches back several years. Both have roots in Alexandra, where Mngomezulu was involved in Seema’s early football development.

Seema’s representative, Malesela Ngoasheng, confirmed that the current Pirates staff member coached the defender before he moved into the professional game.

“Yes, he coached him at amateur level,” Ngoasheng said.

Mngomezulu is also believed to have played a role in Seema’s arrival at the Buccaneers, adding another layer to the defender’s path from grassroots football to one of the country’s biggest clubs.

The connection has become particularly notable because Mngomezulu now works within the Pirates technical structure. A coach who contributed to Seema’s early progress is therefore now part of the environment in which the player is continuing his professional career.

The circumstances surrounding Seema’s move from TS Galaxy were discussed by Ngoasheng in edition 1499 of Soccer Laduma. The representative spoke about the steps involved in completing the transfer and the importance of safeguarding a player’s long-term interests.

Ngoasheng also addressed the relationships that develop throughout a footballer’s career, including the people who continue to support players after their playing days have ended. Those comments highlighted the wider responsibilities of individuals working in football beyond the immediate demands of a transfer.

Mngomezulu’s history with Seema illustrates how such connections can continue across different stages of a player’s development. Their relationship began in Alexandra, continued as Seema progressed into professional football and has now been renewed at Orlando Pirates.
