Ghana striker Samuel Konney joins Ghad Afdal after title-winning Lebanon campaign
Ghanaian centre-forward Samuel Konney has joined Ghad Afdal, adding a 30-year-old attacking option to the club’s squad for the 2026-27 season.
Konney arrives after spending the 2025-26 campaign with Al-Ansar FC, helping the club win the Lebanese Premier League title. He made 21 league appearances during the season, scoring 11 goals and providing four assists, underlining his contribution to Al-Ansar’s successful campaign.
The 1.90m striker left Al-Ansar in April 2026 before joining Ghad Afdal. He had initially moved to Al-Ansar from Al-Abbassieh in August 2025, with that earlier transfer completed as a free move.
Konney’s record in Lebanon also includes appearances in continental and domestic competition. He scored once and supplied one assist in four AFC Challenge League matches, while adding two goals in two Super Cup appearances. He also featured in the Federation Cup and Super Cup Qualifiers.
A Ghana international at club level, Konney began his senior career with Inter Allies before moving to Phar Rangers in 2018. He later spent time with NK Krsko, Gokulam FC and Rahmatganj, gaining experience across several leagues before establishing himself in Lebanon.
His most productive spell came at Al-Ansar, where his league output formed a significant part of a season that ended with the club claiming the national championship. He now brings that experience to Ghad Afdal, with his role focused on leading the attack and providing a central goal threat.
Konney is right-footed and has previously represented clubs in Ghana, Slovenia, India, Bangladesh and Lebanon. His career has included periods as a free agent, with his latest move following his departure from Al-Ansar.
Ghad Afdal have completed the signing of Samuel Konney, who joined the club on 17 September 2026.
