Nice linked with Rennes defender Alidu Seidu
Ghanaian centre-back Alidu Seidu is being linked with a move from Stade Rennais to Ligue 1 rivals Nice.
The 26-year-old defender joined Rennes from Clermont Foot in January 2024 in a deal worth €11m and remains under contract with the club until 30 June 2029. His current market value is listed at €6m.
Seidu has not featured for Rennes in Ligue 1 this season, with the club having played four possible matches. He did make one appearance at the 2026 World Cup, playing 21% of the available minutes and receiving one yellow card.
The potential move would keep Seidu in France’s top flight, where he has played since joining Clermont from the club’s reserve side in 2020. He began his senior career in France after moving from JMG Abidjan to Clermont B in 2019.
Seidu, who was born in Accra on 4 June 2000, is a right-footed centre-back. Rennes paid €11m for him two and a half years before his current valuation was recorded, while his long-term contract means any transfer would involve negotiations between the two Ligue 1 clubs.
No transfer fee or probability has been established for the proposed move. Seidu remains a Rennes player, with his contract running through the end of June 2029.
