Yves Bissouma: Mali midfielder joins Ajax on free transfer after Tottenham exit
Mali midfielder Yves Bissouma has joined Ajax on a free transfer after leaving Tottenham, signing a contract with the Dutch club until 30 June 2027.
The 30-year-old defensive midfielder switches to Ajax after four seasons with Tottenham, where he made 202 Premier League appearances and scored five goals. Bissouma was part of the Tottenham side that won the Europa League in the 2024-25 season.
His move to Amsterdam gives Ajax an experienced midfield option with extensive top-flight football behind him. Bissouma has also played in France and England during a senior career that began with Real, before he moved to Lille in 2016.
He joined Brighton & Hove Albion from Lille in July 2018 for €16.8m and spent four seasons with the Premier League club. Tottenham then signed him from Brighton in July 2022 for €29.2m.
Bissouma made 47 Ligue 1 appearances during his time in France, scoring three goals, before establishing himself in the Premier League. He has also featured in the FA Cup, EFL Cup, Europa League and Champions League across his career.
The right-footed midfielder, who is 1.82m tall, will wear number 28 at Ajax. He joins the Eredivisie club after becoming a free agent on 1 July 2026, following the end of his Tottenham contract.
Bissouma’s highest recorded market value was €35m, reached during his time at Tottenham, while his current valuation is €10m. His career honours include the Europa League title claimed with Tottenham in 2024-25.
Ajax have completed the signing of Bissouma, with the midfielder tied to the club until June 2027.
