Steve Traore leaves Montana as Benin-France winger becomes without a club

Benin-France winger Steve Traore has left Bulgarian side Montana and is now without a club, ending his latest spell in the Vtora Liga after less than two months.

The 28-year-old right winger’s departure was completed on 15 September 2026. No transfer fee was recorded for the move, and Traore’s next club has not been established.

Traore joined Montana on 24 July 2026 after a period without a club. He made four appearances in the 2026-27 Vtora Liga campaign, playing 64 minutes in total, but did not score or register an assist. He did not start any of those matches.

The Paris-born player operates on the right wing and is right-footed. He is listed as 1.68m tall and has represented both Benin and France as his nationalities.

Before moving to Montana, Traore spent the second half of the 2024-25 season with FC Haka in Finland. He joined the club from Bulgaria’s Loko Sofia on 28 January 2025, with that move recorded as a free transfer, before leaving Haka at the end of the season.

His previous career also includes spells with Soligorsk and Beroe, as well as clubs in France. Traore joined Soligorsk from Beroe in March 2023, with the move recorded as a free transfer, having arrived at Beroe from Ste. Genevieve in July 2022.

Traore began his senior career with Bourges 18 after leaving Clermont B. He later played for US Creteil B before moving abroad, with his career including clubs in France, Bulgaria, Finland and Belarus.

His market value is listed at €50,000, while his highest recorded market value was €150,000. The winger’s most recent competitive involvement came during Montana’s 2026-27 campaign, in which his four appearances accounted for 8% of the club’s available minutes.

Traore’s departure from Montana was completed on 15 September 2026, leaving the 28-year-old without a club.
