Golden Arrows must become more clinical, says coach Pitso Dladla

Golden Arrows coach Pitso Dladla says his side must improve their finishing after identifying the failure to convert chances as a recurring problem since the start of the season.

Abafana Bes’thende have made a steady start to the campaign, reaching the MTN8 semi-finals before losing to Mamelodi Sundowns over two legs.

They are currently 10th in the Betway Premiership, with six points from five matches. Their record consists of one win, three draws and one defeat.

Dladla believes Golden Arrows have made progress in creating opportunities, but says their inability to finish those chances remains a concern.

“It’s one of the things we’re working on in training, because it’s one of our problems,” said Dladla.

“But we’re starting to create the opportunities but then it’s not enough to create and not score.”

The coach said the squad must show greater ruthlessness in front of goal, while also stressing that addressing the issue cannot be left solely to the players.

“We’re working on that every day, like I’ve said that we need to be ruthless, we need to be clinical,” he added.

“At the end of the day, us as coaches, we need to assist the players.

“We can’t just leave that problem on them; it’s a collective responsibility from the coaches to the players.”
