Mamelodi Sundowns extend PSL home unbeaten record to 34 matches

Mamelodi Sundowns have extended their PSL record for consecutive home league matches without defeat to 34 after beating Siwelele FC 3-0 on Wednesday evening.

The result also maintained the Brazilians’ record of scoring in each of their past 34 home league games, underlining their sustained dominance on home territory.

Sundowns have now gone more than two years without losing a home league match. According to OptaJabu, their run since May 2024 consists of 31 wins and three draws.

The latest landmark moves Miguel Cardoso’s side beyond the previous best records set by some of South Africa’s most successful clubs.

Kaizer Chiefs held the PSL record for home unbeaten league matches after putting together a 30-game run in 2005. That mark remained unbeaten for almost two decades.

Sundowns themselves had most recently held the record, with a 28-match home run in 2024, before surpassing it with their current sequence.

Their latest victory means the club now hold matching 34-match records for both scoring and avoiding defeat at home in the league.

The figures reflect the consistency Sundowns have established in domestic football, with opponents facing a side that has repeatedly combined attacking output with results at home.

Since May 2024, only three teams have avoided defeat at Sundowns’ ground, while the club have won the other 31 matches in that sequence.
