CODM Meknes reportedly fined MAD 85,000 after crowd trouble during AS FAR clash
Moroccan club Club Omnisports de Meknes (CODM) have reportedly been fined MAD 85,000 following disciplinary incidents during their Botola Pro encounter against AS FAR on Sunday.
According to Elbotola, the reported sanction relates to the use of pyrotechnics, the throwing of projectiles from the stands and a pitch invasion by supporters.
The incidents prompted disciplinary action following a match that was overshadowed by crowd disturbances and concerns over player safety.
However, the reported fine is yet to receive official confirmation from the National Professional Football League (LNFP), which is expected to provide the final details of the sanctions.
AS FAR lodge formal protest after supporter incidents
The disciplinary developments follow a formal complaint submitted by AS FAR to the LNFP over the incidents during Sunday’s encounter.
The Rabat-based club reportedly raised concerns about unsportsmanlike behaviour and the potential risks posed to players during the match.
CODM Meknes had also issued an official statement contesting several refereeing decisions, which the club claimed had directly influenced the outcome of the encounter.
Goalless draw overshadowed by off-field incidents
The match, played during the sixth round of the Botola Pro season, ended in a 0-0 draw at CODM’s home ground.
Neither side managed to find the breakthrough, with both teams settling for a share of the points.
However, the events involving supporters became a major talking point after the final whistle, with the reported financial sanction adding to the controversy surrounding the fixture.
