Orlando Pirates bring back Bheki Mabuza as Daniel Msendami and Abdoulaye Mariko leave on loan

Orlando Pirates have completed the permanent signing of Bheki Mabuza from Marumo Gallants, while Daniel Msendami and Abdoulaye Mariko will move in the opposite direction on loan.

The 23-year-old winger returns to the Buccaneers after previously being part of the club’s junior set-up in 2023. He subsequently left for M Tigers FC before joining Marumo Gallants, where his performances earned him a permanent move back to Orlando Pirates.

Mabuza’s return comes as Pirates reshape their squad, with Msendami and Mariko joining Marumo Gallants for the remainder of the campaign. The pair will spend the rest of the season with Bahlabane Ba Ntwa in a move designed to provide them with more regular playing opportunities.

Orlando Pirates confirmed all three deals in an official statement.

“Orlando Pirates Football Club is pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached with Marumo Gallants for the permanent transfer of Bheki Mabuza.

“The move marks a return to familiar surroundings for Mabuza, who was previously part of the Buccaneers setup.

“During his time away from the Club, Mabuza made encouraging progress and impressed. His performances at Gallants convinced the Club that he is ready to return and take the next step in his career.

“Meanwhile, the club can also confirm that Daniel Msendami and Abdoulaye Mariko will move in the opposite direction, joining Marumo Gallants on season-long loan agreements.”

Mabuza’s spell away from Orlando Pirates allowed him to continue his development after his earlier involvement with the club’s junior ranks. His progress at Marumo Gallants ultimately convinced Pirates that he was ready to return to the first-team environment and continue his career with the Buccaneers.

For Msendami and Mariko, the temporary move to Marumo Gallants offers the opportunity to play more minutes during the rest of the campaign. Pirates described the arrangement as part of the players’ development, with both footballers now set to represent Bahlabane Ba Ntwa on loan.
