Real Madrid v Inter: Tchouameni and Tiago Pitarch return as midfield trio miss out

Jose Mourinho has named his Real Madrid squad for Tuesday evening’s Champions League meeting with Inter at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Aurelien Tchouameni and Tiago Pitarch included after missing the start of the season.

Real Madrid face Inter in the opening round of the Champions League, but will be without Arda Guler, Bernardo Silva and Eduardo Camavinga. The midfield trio are suspended as a result of incidents from the previous edition of the competition.

Tchouameni and Pitarch, meanwhile, are involved in the squad for the first time this season. Their returns provide Mourinho with additional options in midfield before Real Madrid begin their European campaign on home soil.

The full Real Madrid squad is:

Goalkeepers: Thibaut Courtois, Sergio Mestre, Javi Navarro.

Defenders: Dean Huijsen, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Marc Cucurella, Alvaro Carreras, Antonio Rudiger, Denzel Dumfries, Mario Rivas.

Midfielders: Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni, Tiago Pitarch, Sastero.

Forwards: Vinicius Junior, Endrick, Kylian Mbappe, Carlos Espe, Brahim Diaz, Yan Diomande.

The selection includes a mixture of established first-team players and younger members of the squad, while the three suspensions leave Real Madrid without Guler, Silva and Camavinga for their opening European fixture.

Real Madrid will be looking to make a positive start against Inter after exiting last season’s Champions League in the quarter-finals. Their campaign ended with a defeat by Bayern Munich.

The match against Inter will be played at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday evening, with Mourinho’s side aiming to begin their latest Champions League challenge with a home victory.
