FUS Rabat qualify for CAF Women’s Champions League finals after beating Egypt’s Masar

Fath Union Sport (FUS) Rabat Women have secured qualification for the CAF Women’s Champions League finals after an impressive 3-1 victory over Egyptian side Masar on Monday in the third round of the North African qualifying tournament.

The Moroccan champions maintained their perfect record in the qualifiers, making it three wins from three matches to finish the campaign with a maximum nine points and book their place at the continental finals.

FUS Rabat made a blistering start to the crucial encounter and took the lead just five minutes into the game through Salma Tamar.

The early goal gave the Moroccan side the confidence to take control of proceedings, but Masar responded strongly as they looked to keep their own qualification hopes alive.

The Egyptian side eventually found their way back into the contest through Fatima Zahra Mohamed, who scored the equaliser to ensure the two teams went into the break on level terms.

With qualification on the line, FUS Rabat returned for the second half with renewed determination and quickly regained their advantage.

Marie-Cruz Ebola restored the Moroccan side’s lead in the 54th minute, putting FUS Rabat back in control of the contest and dealing a significant blow to Masar’s hopes of mounting a comeback.

The Rabat-based side continued to press forward in search of a decisive third goal, which eventually arrived through Salma Boukarich.

Boukarich found the back of the net to extend FUS Rabat’s advantage and seal an important 3-1 victory for the Moroccan representatives.

The result confirmed FUS Rabat’s qualification for the CAF Women’s Champions League finals, with the team finishing the North African qualifying tournament with a flawless record.

The Moroccan side collected the maximum nine points from their three matches, underlining their dominance throughout the qualification campaign.
