Crystal Palace seal first Premier League win as Fulham suffer third straight defeat

Crystal Palace claimed their first Premier League victory of the season with a 3-2 win over Fulham in the third round of fixtures, increasing the pressure on Alvaro Arbeloa’s side after a difficult start to the campaign.

Palace had lost their opening two league matches but opened their account with three points against Fulham. The result gives them their first victory of the season and ends their wait for a positive result in the Premier League.

Fulham, meanwhile, remain without a win after suffering a third consecutive defeat under manager Alvaro Arbeloa. Their latest loss came despite scoring twice, with Joshua King and Cesar Palacios both finding the net.

Tyrick Mitchell was the decisive figure for Crystal Palace, scoring twice in the match. New arrival Ben Chilwell also contributed to the victory with Palace’s other goal, completing a three-goal return for the side.

The result leaves both clubs with contrasting early-season momentum. Crystal Palace have recovered from their opening defeats by taking all three points, while Fulham’s run of losses has continued through the first three rounds of the competition.

Elsewhere, Brentford and Sunderland shared a 1-1 draw. Brentford moved on to five points from their opening fixtures, while Sunderland increased their total to four points.

Brentford took the lead through Vitaly Janelt before Sunderland levelled from the penalty spot. Enzo Le Fee converted the penalty to secure a point for the visitors and prevent Brentford from claiming their second win of the season.

Brighton and Leeds United also drew 1-1 in the other fixture. The result took Brighton to four points, while Leeds moved on to five.

Leeds went ahead through Jayden Bogle, but Brighton responded through Luka Vuskovic to earn a share of the points. Both sides therefore added one point to their league totals in a match that ended without a winner.

The three matches produced two draws and a first league victory for Crystal Palace. Palace’s win over Fulham was the only result of the group to produce a winner, while Brentford, Sunderland, Brighton and Leeds United all divided the points.
