AD Sao Paio SC sign Nigeria midfielder Alphonsus Ebuka after Czech spell

Nigeria midfielder Alphonsus Ebuka has joined Portuguese club AD Sao Paio SC from Benatky n/Jiz on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old central midfielder made the move on 4 September 2026 after spending the previous season with the Czech club. Ebuka becomes part of an AD Sao Paio SC squad that has added him following his spell in the Czech football system.

Born in Abuja, Ebuka is a right-footed midfielder whose preferred role is in the centre of the pitch. He began his senior career with Superstars FA before moving to Europe, initially joining FC Porto B on loan in July 2020.

That loan spell was followed by a return to Superstars FA before Ebuka spent the first half of the 2021-22 season on loan at CF La Nucia. He later joined CF La Nucia B in July 2022, again continuing his career in European football.

Ebuka moved to Kladno in July 2024 on a free transfer, having previously been with CF La Nucia B. After one season there, he switched to Benatky n/Jiz on 16 August 2025.

His latest move takes him away from Benatky n/Jiz and to AD Sao Paio SC, with the transfer completed without a fee. The change of club represents the next stage of a career that has included spells in Portugal, Spain and the Czech Republic, as well as several loan moves early in his senior career.

Ebuka’s contract with AD Sao Paio SC runs until 30 June 2027.
