Bayer Leverkusen have suffered another injury setback, with Nathan Tella reportedly set to miss Sunday’s Bundesliga encounter against FC Koln.

According to German publication Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, the Nigerian international has yet to overcome his muscular problems and is unlikely to feature in the away fixture.

Tella has already missed Leverkusen’s recent outings against VfB Stuttgart and Olympique Marseille due to the same fitness concerns.

The 27-year-old was unavailable for the Bundesliga meeting with Stuttgart, which ended in a disappointing 4-2 defeat for Leverkusen, before sitting out Thursday’s UEFA Europa League encounter against Marseille, where the German side suffered a 1-0 loss.

His latest setback represents another frustrating interruption to his campaign, having now endured three separate injury-related absences this season.

Tella’s continued unavailability is an unwanted development for head coach Carles Martínez, who will have to consider alternative attacking options ahead of the trip to Cologne.

Leverkusen will travel to the RheinEnergieStadion on Sunday, November 8, hoping to return to winning ways after consecutive defeats across competitions.
