Zamalek defender Ahmed Foutouh was withdrawn from the squad for their Egypt Cup match against Egypt Insurance after falling ill during the warm-up.
Zamalek won the last-32 tie 3-2, but Foutouh was removed from the starting line-up after attempting to prepare for the game.
The club’s head of medical staff, Mohamed Osama, said Foutouh had been suffering from a cold and was unable to complete his warm-up because of dizziness.
“Foutouh was suffering from a cold and tried to push himself to take part in the match, but he felt dizzy and could not finish the warm-up,” Osama said in comments released by the club’s media centre.
“The technical staff preferred to withdraw him from the match to protect his safety.”
Ahmed Khodary was brought into Zamalek’s starting line-up after Foutouh was ruled out.
Zamalek will face Enppi in the last 16 after Enppi defeated Proxy in the previous round.
