Bahaa Ellethy returns to Al-Shahania after Al-Rayyan spell

Qatari-Egyptian centre-back Bahaa Ellethy has joined Al-Shahania SC from Al-Rayyan, returning to the club he represented earlier in the 2025-26 season.

The 27-year-old defender completed the move on 3 September 2026 and will continue his career in Qatar’s Stars League. Ellethy is a left-footed centre-back who stands 1.90m tall and was valued at €225,000 before the transfer.

Ellethy spent the second half of the 2025-26 campaign at Al-Shahania on loan from Al-Rayyan, before returning to his parent club at the end of that temporary spell on 30 June. He had originally moved to Al-Shahania on loan on 27 January 2026.

After rejoining Al-Rayyan, Ellethy made the switch back to Al-Shahania, where he has started both of the club’s matches in the Qatar Stars League 2 this season. He has played 180 minutes and received one yellow card.

The defender began his senior career with Al-Sadd after progressing from the club’s under-23 side. He later spent loan spells at Qatar SC, including during the 2019-20 and 2021-22 seasons, before leaving Al-Sadd for Muaither SC on a free transfer in July 2023.

Ellethy joined Qatar SC permanently in July 2024 and moved to Al-Rayyan a year later. His recent career has therefore remained entirely within Qatar’s domestic game, with Al-Shahania now becoming the latest club to secure his services.

He has won major domestic honours during his career, including two Qatari league titles with Al-Sadd in 2018-19 and 2020-21. He also lifted the Emir of Qatar Cup, the Qatari League Cup and the Sheikh Jassim Cup with Al-Sadd, while winning the Qatari Stars Cup with Al-Sadd in 2019-20 and Al-Rayyan in 2025-26.

Born in Doha, Ellethy is eligible to represent both Qatar and Egypt. His return gives Al-Shahania an experienced central defender with previous knowledge of the club and recent playing time in Qatar’s second-tier competition.

Ellethy’s move from Al-Rayyan to Al-Shahania was completed on 3 September 2026.
