Greenock Morton complete loan move for Hull defender Calvin Okike

Nigeria and England defender Calvin Okike has joined Greenock Morton on loan from Hull U21, giving the Scottish club an 18-year-old centre-back for the 2026-27 season.

Okike completed the move on 3 September 2026 and will remain with Morton until 30 June 2027. The agreement will then end with the defender returning to Hull U21.

The teenager moved into Hull’s Under-21 squad at the start of July after spending the previous campaign with Hull U18. His switch to Morton represents the latest step in a career that has included experience in both youth and senior competitions.

Okike made six appearances in the Premier League Cup and played twice in the FA Youth Cup. He also featured five times in the National League, scoring once during that campaign.

Before returning to Hull’s academy set-up, Okike spent part of the 2025-26 season on loan at Hartlepool. He joined the National League club from Hull U18 on 12 February 2026 before returning to Hull in April.

The defender originally moved to Hull U18 from Sunderland’s youth set-up on a free transfer in July 2024. He has since progressed through Hull’s age-group structure, moving from the Under-18 side to the Under-21s before securing his temporary move to Morton.

Okike’s arrival adds a young defensive option to Morton’s squad, with the player able to operate at centre-back. He is listed as holding both Nigerian and English nationality.

Morton now have the defender for the full 2026-27 loan period, with his agreement scheduled to conclude at the end of June 2027. Calvin Okike’s move from Hull U21 to Morton is complete.
