Rangers bring in Stuttgart winger Badredine Bouanani for Premiership campaign

Algeria-born winger Badredine Bouanani has joined Rangers from Stuttgart on loan, adding a left-footed attacking option to the Scottish club’s squad for the 2026-27 season.

The 21-year-old, who was born in Lille and also holds French nationality, switches from the Bundesliga side in a move completed on 3 September. His loan is scheduled to run until 30 June 2027, when he is due to return to Stuttgart.

Bouanani plays primarily on the right wing and favours his left foot. He stands 1.77m tall and arrives at Rangers after spending the opening part of the campaign with Stuttgart.

The move gives Bouanani the opportunity to play in Scotland after his previous experience in France and Germany. He joined Stuttgart from Nice on 31 August 2025 in a permanent transfer valued at €15m.

Before that move, Bouanani spent time with Nice and had a loan spell at FC Lorient during the 2023-24 season. Lorient paid a €1m loan fee for his temporary move, before he returned to Nice at the end of the campaign.

Bouanani began his senior club career after progressing through the Lille system. He moved from Lille B to Nice in July 2022 on a free transfer, having previously played for Lille’s under-19 and under-17 teams.

His arrival at Rangers follows a season in which his recorded Stuttgart appearances in the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal stand at zero for the current campaign. He joins the club with a market value of €10m and will wear the Rangers shirt during his loan spell.

Rangers’ new signing is contracted to the German club until 30 June 2027, according to the transfer details, meaning his temporary move to Scotland currently covers the remainder of that agreement. Bouanani has now completed his switch from Stuttgart to Rangers for the 2026-27 season.
