Belgian-Moroccan midfielder Ilyes Bennane returns to KRC Genk youth setup

Belgian-Moroccan attacking midfielder Ilyes Bennane has joined KRC Genk U18 from Anderlecht’s youth system, completing a return to the club on 3 September 2026.

Bennane, 15, was born in Verviers and operates primarily in an attacking midfield role. The left-footed player spent the previous stage of his development with Anderlecht after moving there from KRC Genk Youth in April 2024.

His return places him in Genk’s U18 squad competing in the U18 Elite 1 competition. Bennane began his youth career at Standard’s academy, having joined from KAS Eupen Youth in July 2018, before moving to Genk a year later.

The move back to Genk marks the latest step in the young midfielder’s progression through Belgian youth football. He has now represented KAS Eupen, Standard, Genk and Anderlecht at academy level.

Bennane’s transfer to KRC Genk U18 was completed on 3 September 2026.
