Rennes stand firm as Fulham steps up pursuit of Morocco defender Ait Boudlal
Fulham have made a second approach for Stade Rennais defender Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal, but the French club have again rejected the offer, according to reports.
The Premier League side are understood to have increased their proposal to €35m, including bonuses, after an initial €28m bid was turned down by Rennes. The latest offer underlines Fulham’s determination to sign the 20-year-old Morocco international, but it has not yet persuaded the Breton club to sell.
The information was reported by Onze Mondial, which says Stade Rennais have rejected the improved terms for a second time.
Ait Boudlal remains under contract with Rennes until June 2028 and is regarded as an important part of the club’s plans. Rennes’ board are also keen to extend his agreement, despite the continued interest from Fulham and other clubs around Europe.
The French club’s valuation reflects the defender’s potential as well as his current status within the squad. Rennes are believed to value Ait Boudlal at close to €50m, a figure well above Fulham’s latest proposal.
The Morocco international is reportedly interested in Fulham’s approach and the possibility of moving to the Premier League. His performances in recent months have drawn attention from several European clubs, with Africafoot previously reporting the growing interest in the young defender.
Ait Boudlal’s estimated market value is currently €12m, according to Transfermarkt. That figure is significantly lower than the valuation set by Rennes, who appear to be under no immediate pressure to agree a sale given the length of the player’s contract.
Fulham’s pursuit could therefore depend on whether the club are prepared to increase their offer further. Rennes’ latest refusal suggests that the French side are seeking terms closer to their own valuation, while their interest in renewing Ait Boudlal’s contract could further strengthen their negotiating position.
The defender’s immediate focus will be on Stade Rennais’ next fixture, against Angers in the third round of the French championship. The match will take place as Fulham continue to assess whether to make another move for the player.
Betting company 1xbet lists Stade Rennais as favourites for the game, with a home win priced at 1.78. A draw is listed at 3.60, while an Angers victory is priced at 3.80.
