Farès Ghedjemis transfer to Monaco enters final stage as club await key exits

Algerian winger Farès Ghedjemis is expected to complete his move to AS Monaco in the coming hours, although the transfer remains dependent on the French club completing other departures before finalising his arrival.

The Monaco move has been progressing towards completion as the summer transfer window enters its final stages across Europe’s major leagues.

The Ligue 1 leaders have reportedly agreed the conditions for Ghedjemis’ arrival from Frosinone, with the transfer expected to cost around €10m.

Ghedjemis has been identified as a potential replacement for Maghnes Akliouche, who has joined Paris Saint-Germain for €50m. Monaco are therefore preparing to bring in the Algerian as they reshape their options on the right wing.

The 23-year-old had also attracted strong interest from Turkish club Besiktas, who had been pushing to secure his signature. However, Monaco have moved into a favourable position to complete the deal.

Despite the progress, the transfer is not yet formally complete.

Ghedjemis is understood to be remaining patient while Monaco deal with other business that needs to be concluded before his arrival can be confirmed.

The Algerian international knows his time with Frosinone is coming to an end after helping the Italian club secure promotion to Serie A at the end of last season.

The remaining work for Monaco includes potential departures from the squad. Lamine Camara is expected to leave for Chelsea, while Folarin Balogun has also been linked with a move away from the Principality.

Those deals are important to Monaco as the club look to create the necessary space for their latest signing. Once the outstanding business has been completed, Ghedjemis is expected to finalise his move.

There appears to be a place available for the Algerian on Monaco’s right flank, where his arrival would add another attacking option following Akliouche’s departure.

The proposed €10m transfer is considered an important move for Monaco because of Ghedjemis’ potential. His style of play has drawn comparisons with Algeria great Riyad Mahrez, while his development could eventually put him in contention for a more prominent role with the national team.

Ghedjemis is also viewed as a potential successor to Mahrez for Algeria’s right-wing position in the future.

With competition for that role expected to increase following Mahrez’s eventual retirement, the Monaco move could provide Ghedjemis with an opportunity to continue developing at a higher level.

For now, however, the deal remains at the final stage. Monaco have reportedly agreed the conditions of the transfer, but the club must complete their outstanding sales before Ghedjemis can officially become a Monaco player.
