Real Madrid recall Vinicius Junior and Federico Valverde for AEK Athens trip

Jose Mourinho has named the Real Madrid squad for Wednesday’s Champions League meeting with AEK Athens, with Vinicius Junior and Federico Valverde included after returning from suspension and injury respectively.

Aurelien Tchouameni and Arda Guler are not part of the travelling group, apparently to allow both players to rest.

Vinicius Junior missed Real Madrid’s recent league match through suspension, while Valverde is available again after recovering from injury. The match in Greece will be Real Madrid’s fourth in this season’s Champions League.

Mourinho’s squad is:

Goalkeepers: Thibaut Courtois, Andriy Lunin, Sergio Mestre.

Defenders: Eder Militao, Dean Huijsen, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Marc Cucurella, Alvaro Carreras, Antonio Rudiger, Denzel Dumfries.

Midfielders: Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde, Bernardo Silva, Thiago Pitarch, Sergio Martinez.

Forwards: Vinicius Junior, Endrick, Kylian Mbappe, Carlos Espe, Brahim Diaz, Yan Diomande.

Real Madrid have won all three of their opening Champions League fixtures, beating Inter, Roma and Leipzig. Those victories have left them with a maximum nine points before their visit to AEK Athens.
