Kaizer Chiefs Ladies maintain unbeaten run with 4-2 victory over Mito Stars

Kaizer Chiefs Ladies extended their unbeaten run to 11 matches with a 4-2 victory over Mito Stars in the Gauteng Sasol Women’s Provincial League on Saturday afternoon.

The result means the Glamour Girls have won 10 of their past 11 matches, with the only other outcome being a draw. During that sequence, they have scored 30 goals and kept seven clean sheets.

Unathi Mabena’s side produced another commanding performance away from home, taking control early and establishing a 3-0 advantage before half-time. They then added a fourth goal shortly after the restart to complete another emphatic win.

Sphiwe Dlamini opened the scoring in the 20th minute, giving Chiefs Ladies the lead after a positive start. Nonhlanhla Maci doubled the advantage 13 minutes later, putting the visitors in a strong position before the interval.

The third goal followed just two minutes after Maci’s strike, with Sizanda Komane finding the net in the 35th minute. Chiefs Ladies therefore went into the break with a three-goal cushion.

Refilwe Maseko, who has been in strong form, added the fourth in the 46th minute, sealing the victory early in the second half. Mito Stars scored twice, but Chiefs Ladies held on to claim another important result in their pursuit of the league title.

The victory leaves Kaizer Chiefs Ladies on 49 points from 21 matches. They remain top of the table, with nine fixtures still to play.

The latest success continues an impressive run of results for Amakhosazana. In their previous match, they defeated North West University 3-0 at Naturena Village, following a 4-1 victory over Emmarentia Pirates.

Those results, together with Saturday’s win against Mito Stars, underline the consistency of Mabena’s team during a sustained period of strong form. Chiefs Ladies have continued to collect points while maintaining a high scoring rate and regularly limiting their opponents’ chances, as reflected in their seven clean sheets across the unbeaten sequence.

Their 11-match run now comprises 10 victories and one draw, leaving the side firmly in control at the top of the Gauteng Sasol Women’s Provincial League standings. With nine outings remaining, Chiefs Ladies will aim to preserve that position during the closing stages of the campaign.
