PSV close in on NEC winger Sami Ouaissa as Feyenoord interest fades

PSV Eindhoven have moved closer to signing NEC winger Sami Ouaissa, with negotiations between the two clubs at an advanced stage, according to De Telegraaf.

The Eredivisie champions have offered €8m for the 21-year-old Morocco international, bringing them closer to the €10m asking price set by NEC, the newspaper reported on Friday evening.

Ouaissa is also being monitored by Feyenoord, who had long been expected to make a move for the winger and had been linked with a transfer to De Kuip. However, the player now appears more likely to join PSV Eindhoven.

The proposed move would see Ouaissa join the reigning champions and link up with the former Roda JC player. PSV have identified him as a solution to their need for greater attacking depth following the departure of Couhaib Driouech to Celta Vigo and the imminent transfer of Esmir Bajraktarevic.

Ouaissa’s potential arrival would therefore form part of PSV’s reshaping of their attacking options. The club are attempting to strengthen that area of the squad after losing Driouech and preparing for Bajraktarevic’s departure.

Feyenoord have not made a formal offer for Ouaissa, according to De Telegraaf. The Rotterdam club had been considered a possible destination, but the winger is now being viewed as the player who could replace Anis Hadj Moussa.

Despite that expectation, Anis Hadj Moussa remains at De Kuip. No concrete bid has been submitted by Feyenoord for Ouaissa, leaving PSV in the stronger position as discussions with NEC continue.

For NEC, the possible transfer would represent another significant sale involving an important first-team player. Ouaissa would be the third key member of the squad to leave the Nijmegen club for a substantial fee.

NEC had already sold Basar Onal to Lille for €12m. The club also transferred defensive midfielder Kodai Sano to PSV Eindhoven for €15m.

A deal worth the €10m requested by NEC would add another major fee to the Dutch club’s recent transfer business. PSV’s current €8m proposal is below that valuation, but the two clubs are understood to be close enough for talks to have reached an advanced stage.

Ouaissa, aged 21, is therefore at the centre of a contest between two leading Dutch clubs. Feyenoord’s interest has been longstanding, but PSV’s offer and their need to reinforce the attack have placed Eindhoven in pole position for his signature.
