Saibari shines in unfamiliar role

With Harry Kane rested, Saibari was deployed as Bayern’s centre-forward and made an immediate impact.

The Moroccan set up Michael Olise’s opening goal after just 10 minutes. Magdeburg responded shortly afterwards to level the score at 1-1, but Saibari helped Bayern regain the lead.

After receiving a pass from Olise, the 25-year-old produced a spectacular lob in the 21st minute to put Bayern back in front.

Saibari continued to pose a threat and contributed to further attacking moves before being replaced by Tim Binder in the 75th minute.

Moroccan wins award despite Olise and Davies contributions

Saibari’s Player of the Match award was notable given the performances of his Bayern team-mates.

Olise scored twice, while Alphonso Davies was directly involved in three goals after coming on as a substitute.

Despite those contributions, Saibari received the individual recognition following his influential display in Bayern’s 6-1 win.
