Al Ahly confirm Marwan Attia renewal after stunning league goal
Al Ahly have confirmed that midfielder Marwan Attia has extended his contract with the Egyptian club until 2030.
The announcement was made in the early hours of Thursday morning, with the Cairo-based club releasing a statement across its official social media accounts.
“Marwan Attia, the first-team football player, has extended his contract with the club until 2030,” Al Ahly said.
The agreement was completed during a meeting held on Wednesday evening with Essam Sirag El-Din, head of the club’s contracts sector. Al Ahly said all administrative and financial procedures had been finalised in full coordination with football director Wael Gomaa.
The club added: “The player expressed his great happiness at extending his contract and continuing his career with Al Ahly and its supporters during the coming years.”
Attia started Al Ahly’s opening Egyptian Premier League match last Sunday and scored a spectacular goal in their 3-2 victory over Eastern Company Enppi.
The midfielder is expected to remain part of the team’s plans as Al Ahly prepare for their second league fixture of the campaign, against ZED on Friday evening.
Attia’s renewal provides Al Ahly with a long-term agreement for a player who has already featured prominently at the beginning of the new league season. His latest appearance came in the starting line-up, and his goal helped Al Ahly claim victory in a five-goal match.
The club announced the contract extension with a short message accompanying a post on social media: “Marwan Attia extends his contract with the club until 2030.”
The confirmation came shortly after the player’s impressive contribution in the league opener, underlining his importance to the squad. Al Ahly did not disclose further financial details of the new agreement.
The club’s next test comes against ZED on Friday, when Al Ahly will attempt to build on their opening win. Attia’s contract announcement ensures that, regardless of the result, his future will remain tied to the club for the next several seasons.
Al Ahly’s statement focused on the completion of the renewal and the player’s positive reaction to remaining with the club and its supporters. The midfielder’s long-term stay has now been formally secured through 2030.
