Vancouver bring in Canada-Cameroon teenager Emrick Fotsing in €300k midfield deal

Canada-Cameroon midfielder Emrick Fotsing has joined Vancouver from Canadian Premier League side Vancouver FC for €300,000, completing a move to the Major League Soccer club.

The 18-year-old central midfielder has signed a contract running until 30 June 2030. Fotsing, who was born in Mascouche, Quebec, switches clubs after making 13 senior appearances for Vancouver FC across domestic competitions during the 2026 season.

He played 10 times in the Canadian Premier League and started all three of Vancouver FC’s Canadian Championship matches. Fotsing recorded 505 minutes in league football and a further 198 minutes in the cup, although he did not score or register an assist in those appearances.

The move comes 18 months after Fotsing joined Vancouver FC from the Montreal academy on a free transfer. He had been with the Canadian Premier League club since February 2025 before moving across the country’s top-flight football system to Vancouver.

Fotsing is listed at 1.80m and favours his right foot. His arrival adds a young central midfield option to a Vancouver squad competing in MLS, while his Canada and Cameroon nationalities reflect his eligibility background.

His market value is listed at €200,000, placing the reported transfer fee above that figure. The deal was completed on 26 August 2026, with Fotsing’s new contract securing his place at Vancouver through the end of the 2029-30 season.

Fotsing’s 2026 campaign with Vancouver FC included appearances in both league and cup football, and he started every one of the club’s Canadian Championship matches. He did not feature in the CONCACAF Champions Cup before making the move.

The transfer represents the latest step in the teenager’s senior career after his initial move from Montreal’s academy to Vancouver FC. Fotsing is now under contract with Vancouver until 30 June 2030.
