Ayoub Akabou joins AD Ceuta as French-Moroccan goalkeeper on free transfer

French-Moroccan goalkeeper Ayoub Akabou has joined Spanish club AD Ceuta from Rennes B on a free transfer, completing his move on 26 August 2026.

The 19-year-old leaves Rennes after one season with the club’s reserve side and moves into Spanish football with AD Ceuta, who compete in LaLiga2. The transfer takes Akabou from France’s National 2 – Group C to the second tier of the Spanish game.

Akabou is a goalkeeper who stands 1.94m tall and favours his right foot. Born in Le Blanc-Mesnil, France, he holds both French and Moroccan nationalities. He is listed with AD Ceuta FC at international level, while his club career to this point has been developed in France.

The goalkeeper joined Rennes B on 1 July 2025 after progressing from Rennes’ under-19 side. He had spent the previous season with Rennes U19, having moved there from Rennes U17 in July 2024. His route through the Rennes system began in the club’s youth setup, which he joined in July 2023 after leaving Clairefontaine’s youth ranks.

Akabou’s transfer represents his first move outside France and gives him a new club environment in Spain at the beginning of the 2026-27 season. AD Ceuta’s league status places the teenager in a different competitive setting from the one he experienced with Rennes B, while his position and physical profile provide clear detail about the role he brings to the squad.

The move was completed without a transfer fee, with Akabou leaving Rennes B for AD Ceuta. He is now an AD Ceuta player.
