Bayern Munich put unbeaten opening-day run on the line against Stuttgart

Bayern Munich begin their new Bundesliga campaign at home to Stuttgart on Friday, with the German champions seeking a 15th consecutive league-opening fixture without defeat.

The match at the Allianz Arena is scheduled to kick off at 18:30 GMT on 28 August 2026. It is a high-profile repeat of the recent German Cup final, in which Bayern defeated Stuttgart 3-0 on 23 May.

The fixture will be broadcast on beIN Sports in France, ESPN+ in the United States, Sky Sports in the United Kingdom, DAZN in Canada, Germany, Portugal and Spain, and on Canal+ Sport and New World Sport across Africa.

Bayern have dominated this contest in recent years. They have won 29 of the past 33 competitive meetings with Stuttgart, drawing two and losing two. The Bavarian side have also won the last six encounters, scoring an average of 3.5 goals per game during that run.

Bayern arrive at the start of the league season having recently won the German Super Cup after completing a domestic double. Vincent Kompany’s side will now begin the defence of their Bundesliga title with home advantage and a formidable record at the Allianz Arena.

Their attacking efficiency remains one of their biggest strengths, and the squad has been reinforced during the summer with the arrivals of two quality attacking players. However, Bayern will not have their full selection available, with Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry both absent for the opening fixture.
