DRC: No official move yet for Noah Banzuzi and Castello Lukeba
There are currently no official steps to bring Leipzig duo Noah Banzuzi and Castello Lukeba into the Democratic Republic of Congo national team, despite recent reports suggesting the players were pursuing Congolese passports.
The situation remains unchanged for now, with no formal process confirmed for either player.
No passport process confirmed
Reports had claimed that Banzuzi and Lukeba were in Belgium as part of efforts to obtain Congolese passports, potentially paving the way for them to represent the DRC national team.
However, information reported by Leopardsactu indicates that the DRC embassy in Belgium is not aware of such a process.
That means there is currently no confirmation that either player has begun the administrative steps required to change or establish their international eligibility for the Congolese national team.
The reports had generated interest because both players are members of German club RB Leipzig and could potentially strengthen the DRC squad if they decide to represent the country.
Situation remains unchanged
For now, however, there has been no official development involving either player.
The absence of confirmed procedures means the claims about their presence in Belgium for the purpose of obtaining Congolese passports cannot currently be backed by the DRC embassy there.
Banzuzi and Lukeba therefore remain outside any confirmed process involving the DRC national team.
The situation could still change in the future, but there is currently no indication that either player has formally begun the process.
Door remains open for Banzuzi and Lukeba
Despite the lack of official movement, the possibility of the two Leipzig players representing the DRC has not been ruled out.
Both Banzuzi and Lukeba could still join the national team at a later stage if they decide that they want to represent the country and take the necessary steps.
For the moment, though, the situation remains as it was before the latest reports emerged.
The claims surrounding their alleged trip to Belgium had suggested that progress was being made behind the scenes, but the information from the DRC embassy has cast doubt on those reports.
No confirmed change for the national team
The DRC therefore has no confirmed new additions involving Banzuzi or Lukeba at this stage.
Any future move would depend on the players’ decisions and the completion of the appropriate procedures.
Until then, the two Leipzig players remain potential options rather than confirmed members of the Congolese national team setup.
The possibility of seeing them in DRC colours remains open, but there is no official file currently underway according to the information available.
