Bamba Dieng set for Red Star move after successful Belgrade medical

Bamba Dieng has moved closer to joining Red Star Belgrade after successfully completing his medical in the Serbian capital on Friday.

The Senegal international’s examinations revealed no particular problems, allowing the two clubs and the player to focus on completing the final administrative details of the transfer.

According to Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, negotiations are progressing and the remaining elements of the deal are now being finalised. Dieng is expected to sign a two-year contract with Red Star Belgrade, including an option for a further season.

The 26-year-old forward is poised to take his career in a new direction by moving to one of Serbia’s most prestigious clubs. His attacking qualities and experience at the highest level are expected to provide Red Star with another option in the forward line.

Red Star moved quickly for Dieng after his proposed transfer to Lazio failed. That collapse, which was reported exclusively by Africafoot, created an opportunity for the Serbian club to advance their interest in the former Lorient player.

Dieng is currently valued at 15m euros by Transfermarkt. Unless there is an unexpected change in the situation, his move to Red Star Belgrade should be completed shortly.

While with Lorient, Dieng earned an annual salary of 900,000 euros, equivalent to 585,000,000 CFA francs. The proposed contract details at Red Star Belgrade have not been disclosed.

The timing of the transfer would give Dieng the chance to join Red Star as the club prepares for a significant European fixture. Red Star are due to play the first leg of their Europa League qualifying play-off against Viktoria Plzen very soon.

Betting odds listed for the match put Red Star Belgrade at 1.82 to win, with the draw priced at 3.95 and a Viktoria Plzen victory at 4.10 by bookmaker 1xBet.

Dieng’s successful medical represents an important step towards the completion of the deal, although the transfer still depends on the final administrative procedures being concluded.
