William Kokolo joins Nacional as Hannover 96 loan move brings French-DR Congo midfielder to Portugal
William Kokolo, the 26-year-old midfielder of French and DR Congo nationality, has joined Portuguese club Nacional from Hannover 96 on loan.
The left-footed player completes his move from Germany’s 2. Bundesliga to Liga Portugal, with the transfer taking effect on 20 August 2026. His contract with Nacional runs until 30 June 2027.
Kokolo operates primarily on the left side of midfield and was born in Paris on 9 June 2000. He stands 1.81m tall and brings experience of German football to a Nacional side competing in Portugal’s top division.
The move places Kokolo in a new league after his time with Hannover 96. The German club is based in the 2. Bundesliga, while Nacional’s first-team schedule is centred on Liga Portugal, giving the midfielder a change of competition and country.
His preferred left foot supports his role on the left flank, where he can be used as a wide midfielder. Nacional have secured his services for the duration of the loan, with the player’s registration now reflecting the Portuguese club as his current team.
Kokolo holds both French and DR Congo nationality. His birthplace in Paris provides a link to France, while his listed nationalities also include the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Nacional’s signing comes with Kokolo’s recorded market value set at €500,000. No transfer fee has been attached to the loan move from Hannover 96.
The midfielder’s arrival also marks a formal change in his club status, moving from Hannover’s German setup to Nacional’s Portuguese squad. He joined the Portuguese club on 20 August 2026, with the agreement running through the end of June 2027.
Kokolo is now a Nacional player on loan from Hannover 96, with the completed deal taking him into Liga Portugal for the 2026-27 campaign.
