Galatasaray face Crystal Palace resistance in bid for Ismaila Sarr
Galatasaray have made an opening offer for Crystal Palace forward Ismaila Sarr, but the proposal has been rejected by the Premier League club, according to Foot Mercato.
The Turkish side are keen to complete a deal for the Senegal international and have approached Crystal Palace as the summer transfer window enters its final stages. However, the Eagles do not want to make it easy for the 28-year-old to leave and remain determined to keep him for the new season.
Crystal Palace’s response means Galatasaray will now have to improve their offer if they are to persuade the London club to sell the former Olympique de Marseille player. Talks could continue in the coming days, with the Turkish club expected to consider whether a significantly higher bid would change Crystal Palace’s position.
Sarr is understood to be attracted by the prospect of moving to Galatasaray. The Senegal forward is reportedly open to a transfer to Turkey, which could make negotiations over personal terms less complicated should the two clubs reach an agreement.
At this stage, the central issue is the gap between Galatasaray’s proposal and Crystal Palace’s valuation of the player. The Turkish club will need to provide a stronger financial package to make progress in its attempt to sign Sarr.
The forward enjoyed a successful season with Crystal Palace and could now be considering another new chapter in his career. He remains under contract with the Eagles until 30 June 2029 and is valued at 45m euros.
Sarr earns 4,348,684 euros per year in England, equivalent to 2,826,644,600 FCFA. Those financial details could form part of the wider assessment for Galatasaray as it weighs up whether to return with a second offer.
Crystal Palace are preparing for their opening Premier League fixture, when they will face Everton. Betting company 1xbet lists Crystal Palace at 3.30 to win, with a draw also priced at 3.30 and an Everton victory at 2.00.
