Como linked with Villarreal defender Willy Kambwala

Willy Kambwala, the French and DR Congo centre-back at Villarreal, is being linked with a move to Italian club Como.

The 21-year-old defender is the subject of reported interest from the Serie A side, with Villarreal currently his club and a transfer yet to be confirmed. Kambwala joined the Spanish club from Manchester United in July 2024 in a deal worth €10m.

He has not made an appearance for Villarreal in LaLiga this season, having been unused during the campaign’s opening match. His current market value is listed at €3m.

Kambwala began his senior career at Manchester United after moving from Sochaux’s youth system, and he was part of the United squad that won the English FA Cup in 2024. He left Old Trafford permanently that summer to join Villarreal.

The 1.92m defender is contracted to Villarreal until 30 June 2029, meaning any move to Como would involve a transfer rather than a free transfer. No fee has been established for the proposed switch.

Kambwala’s potential move would take him from LaLiga to Serie A, although the available details do not indicate whether negotiations have advanced or whether a formal offer has been made.
