NK Tolmin sign Dutch-Ghanaian midfielder Imanuel Bonsu from United FC

Dutch-Ghanaian midfielder Imanuel Bonsu has joined Slovenian club NK Tolmin from United FC, completing a move that takes the 23-year-old to his latest European destination.

Bonsu plays in central midfield and was born in Amsterdam. He is 1.82m tall and prefers his right foot. His arrival at Tolmin follows two years in the United Arab Emirates, where he represented United FC after joining the club from Emirates Club in September 2024.

Before moving to the UAE, Bonsu spent time without a club after leaving Utrecht Under-21s in August 2022. He joined Emirates Club in February 2024, beginning a spell that brought him into the UAE football system before his transfer to United FC.

His career includes seven appearances in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, in which he played 169 minutes. He also featured in Dutch youth competitions, making 13 appearances in the Under-17 Division 1 Fall campaign and seven in the spring competition. He scored once in each of those Under-17 periods and recorded two assists in the autumn campaign.

Bonsu developed through the Dutch academy system, spending time with Ajax’s youth team, Heerenveen’s youth setup and Utrecht’s youth sides. He moved from Ajax’s youth ranks to Heerenveen in 2017 before joining Utrecht the following year, progressing through the club’s Under-17, Under-18 and Under-21 teams.

The midfielder holds Dutch and Ghanaian nationality. His move to NK Tolmin was completed on 19 August 2026.
