Bentayeb cleared for Anderlecht medical as former Troyes boss Sibierski reunites with striker
Tawfik Bentayeb is set to join RSC Anderlecht after the Belgian club reached an agreement with Moroccan side Touarga for the transfer of the 24-year-old forward.
Anderlecht are expected to pay €4.5m, including bonuses, for the centre-forward, with a percentage of any future sale also included in the deal. The move is subject to Bentayeb completing his medical, but the final administrative obstacle to his departure from Morocco has now been resolved.
The striker had been waiting for a work permit before travelling to Belgium. That formal process has now been completed, allowing Bentayeb to fly to Brussels and begin the final stages of his proposed move.
He is expected at Anderlecht on Thursday for his medical examination. If there are no problems, he will sign a long-term contract with the Brussels club, reportedly running until 2030.
The transfer reunites Bentayeb with Antoine Sibierski, who coached him at Troyes last season. Sibierski, now sporting director at RSC Anderlecht, identified the Morocco international as the attacking reinforcement he wanted after seeing him perform in Ligue 2.
Bentayeb finished last season as Ligue 2’s leading scorer while playing under Sibierski. His goalscoring form and overall performances persuaded Anderlecht’s sporting director that the forward was worth bringing to Belgium, with the club now ready to make a significant investment in his potential.
The agreement represents a carefully considered choice rather than a late move for an unfamiliar player. Sibierski already knows Bentayeb’s qualities, his attacking instincts and his ability to find the net, while Bentayeb will work with a manager who played a key role in his standout campaign at Troyes.
Anderlecht had been searching for an attacking addition and believe the Moroccan can provide greater firepower. For Bentayeb, the move offers the opportunity to build on an impressive season in France and test himself at a higher level in Belgium.
The expected transfer comes shortly before Anderlecht’s Europa League qualifying play-off first leg against Kairat Almaty. The match is scheduled to take place soon, with RSC Anderlecht listed as the favourites by the betting company 1xbet.
The published odds give Kairat Almaty a price of 3.47 to win, while a draw is rated at 3.54 and an RSC Anderlecht victory at 2.17. The source also refers to the option of downloading 1xbet.
Bentayeb’s immediate priority, however, is completing his medical and formalising the contract that should keep him at Anderlecht until 2030. Once the move is confirmed, the 24-year-old will begin the next stage of his career with the expectation that he can reproduce in Belgium the goalscoring impact he made in Ligue 2.
For Anderlecht, the signing would deliver the attacking option requested by Sibierski. For Bentayeb, it is a chance to turn a prolific season at Troyes into a significant step forward on the Belgian stage.
