Coventry sign Guinea striker Sidiki Cherif from Fenerbahce for €24.5m

Guinea centre-forward Sidiki Cherif has joined Coventry from Fenerbahce for €24.5m, completing a major move to the Premier League club.

The 19-year-old striker arrives in England after only a short spell with the Turkish side, having joined Fenerbahce from Angers SCO on 1 July 2026 for €18m. Cherif made one appearance in Champions League qualifying for Fenerbahce this season, playing three minutes, but did not feature in the Super Lig.

Cherif began the 2025-26 campaign with Fenerbahce on loan from Angers. That agreement included a €4m loan fee, before the Turkish club signed him outright at the end of the season.

Born in Dubreka, Cherif developed in France after joining Angers’ youth system. He moved from Angers For. to the club’s under-17 side in 2021, progressed to the under-19 team the following year and stepped up to Angers’ senior squad in 2023.

The 1.88m forward is right-footed and joins Coventry with a market value of €18m. His arrival gives the club a young central attacking option as they compete in the Premier League.

Cherif’s playing record at the start of the 2026-27 season consists of one Champions League qualifying appearance, with no goals or assists recorded. He did not make an appearance in the Super Lig before leaving Fenerbahce.

The transfer took place on 19 August 2026, with Cherif moving from Turkey to England to continue his career at Coventry.
