Botev Vratsa sign Benin winger David Tchetchao Karo on free transfer

Benin winger David Tchetchao Karo has joined Bulgarian club Botev Vratsa from Chicago II on a free transfer, completing a move into the efbet Liga on 19 August 2026.

The 22-year-old has signed a contract with Botev Vratsa running until 30 June 2029. Karo plays primarily on the left wing and is predominantly right-footed, giving the Bulgarian side an attacking option capable of operating from the flank.

Karo arrives after spending the previous part of his career with Chicago II in the United States. He made 17 appearances in MLS Next Pro, scoring once and providing two assists, while also featuring twice in the US Open Cup.

His MLS Next Pro campaign amounted to 650 minutes, with his goal coming at a rate of one every 650 minutes. He played a further 50 minutes in the US Open Cup, adding experience across both league and cup competition before his switch to Bulgaria.

The move to Botev Vratsa represents Karo’s second change of club since leaving Benin. He joined Chicago II from ASVO Benin on 15 March 2024, also on a free transfer, before moving on after more than two years with the American club.

Karo was born on 29 September 2003 and stands 1.72 metres tall. His arrival gives Botev Vratsa a 22-year-old Benin international-level club player with recent experience in the MLS Next Pro system and a defined role on the left side of attack.

Botev Vratsa have completed the signing of David Tchetchao Karo on a free transfer, with the winger contracted until June 2029.
