Philippe Lanquetin joins ES Sahel as French-Tunisian defender leaves Estoril
France-Tunisian centre-back Philippe Lanquetin has joined ES Sahel from Estoril U23, completing a move to the Tunisian Ligue 1 club.
Lanquetin, 21, has signed a contract with ES Sahel running until 30 June 2029. The right-footed defender stands 1.88m tall and will continue his career in Tunisia after a spell with Estoril’s under-23 side in Portugal.
The move follows a season in which Lanquetin spent time at Dutch club ADO Den Haag on loan from Estoril U23. That loan began in July 2025 before he returned to Estoril at the end of December.
Lanquetin joined Estoril U23 from RC Lens U19 in September 2023. He had developed through Lens’ youth system after arriving from Bretigny’s youth ranks in 2018, progressing from the under-17 side to the under-19 team.
During the 2023-24 campaign, Lanquetin was part of the Estoril U23 squad that won the Portuguese Under-23 championship. That remains the defender’s recorded honour in his developing career.
His arrival at ES Sahel marks his first move to a senior club in Tunisia, despite holding both French and Tunisian nationality. He was born in Orsay, France, on 21 February 2005.
Lanquetin’s latest club change comes after his pathway through academy football in France, a championship-winning season in Portugal and a loan spell in the Netherlands. He is now contracted to ES Sahel through June 2029.
