Musa Malik joins Zulte Waregem as Nigeria winger begins Belgian adventure

Nigeria winger Musa Malik has joined Zulte Waregem from Ikorodu City, completing a move to the Belgian Jupiler Pro League club at the age of 18.

Malik, who turned 18 on 17 August, plays primarily on the left wing and joins Zulte Waregem after spending the previous campaign in Nigeria’s NPFL. He made 15 league appearances for Ikorodu City, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

The move was registered on 18 August 2026, taking Malik from Nigeria’s top flight into Belgium’s leading division. Zulte Waregem have added a right-footed wide player who stands 1.83m tall and was born in Oyo State, Nigeria.

Malik joined Ikorodu City from the club’s under-20 side on 31 December 2024. His time with the senior team included 877 minutes of NPFL football, with an average of 439 minutes between his two goals.

His arrival gives Zulte Waregem a young option for the left side of their attack as the club prepares for competition in the Jupiler Pro League. Malik’s move also marks his first recorded transfer outside Nigeria after progressing from Ikorodu’s youth system to senior football.

Zulte Waregem are the latest club in Malik’s developing career, following his spell with Ikorodu City and his earlier time at Ikorodu U20. The Nigerian now begins a new chapter in Belgium after making his senior-level breakthrough in the NPFL.

Malik’s transfer to Zulte Waregem was completed on 18 August 2026.
